By May, a lot of teens are running on empty. Finals, projects, sports, events, jobs, social plans and it all adds up fast. Feeling tired, unmotivated, stressed, or emotionally drained this time of year is more common than people think.

This week’s reminder to help instill in our teens: taking care of yourself is part of finishing strong.

Simple ways to recharge this week:

🧃 Stay hydrated throughout the day

📵 Take short breaks from screens and social media

🎧 Listen to music that helps you relax or reset

☀️ Spend a little time outside each day

🛏️ Try to get an extra hour of sleep this week

✅ Give yourself credit for the small wins

When stress builds up, it can affect mental health, decision-making, and coping skills. Small self-care habits can make a big difference during overwhelming times.

Journal Prompt ✍️

What is one challenge I’ve handled this school year that I’m proud of?

Mother’s Day is a great time to celebrate the people who give so much to others BUT it’s also a good reminder to check in with yourself.

When you’re constantly taking care of everyone else, it’s easy to run on empty. And when that happens, stress builds, patience gets thin, and everything feels a little harder.

The truth is, taking care of yourself isn’t extra—it’s important. It helps you stay grounded, connected, and better able to handle life’s challenges in healthy ways.

Try this today: Small moments of care

🌺 Step outside for a few quiet minutes

🌺Enjoy a drink or snack without multitasking

🌺Take a short break and give yourself permission to rest

🌺Reach out to someone who helps you feel supported

These simple moments can reset your stress and help you show up the way you want to—for yourself and your family.

And for the young people in your life, this matters more than you think. When they see you managing stress in healthy ways, you’re modeling coping skills they can carry with them—without turning to substances.

Taking care of yourself is part of taking care of your family.

Journal Prompt:

What is one small way I can take care of myself this week—and what would make it easier to follow through?

Scrolling can make it seem like everyone else is ahead, happier, more successful, or somehow “doing life better.” But social media is usually a highlight reel, not the full story. You’re seeing the best angles, biggest moments, and edited versions of real life.

Comparison is a scam because it convinces you to measure your everyday life against someone else’s curated moments. That’s not a fair fight.

Your path is allowed to look different. Growth doesn’t always happen loudly or publicly. Sometimes progress looks like setting boundaries, getting through a hard week, trying again, or simply taking care of yourself.

Instead of asking, “Why am I not there yet?” try asking, “What’s one step I can take for my goals today?”

You don’t need to be anyone else. You just need to keep becoming you.

💛 Try This Today:

Take a quick break from accounts that make you feel “less than” and spend time on something that makes you feel grounded or inspired.

📝 Journal Prompt:

When I stop comparing myself to others, what strengths, progress, or goals of my own can I appreciate more?
