September is National Recovery Month, a time to focus on wellness and connection. One of the easiest and most refreshing ways to practice self-care as a family is by going for a nature walk.

Why Try It?
Being outdoors helps lower stress, improve mood, and bring a sense of calm. A family walk gives everyone a chance to unplug, talk, and enjoy Arizona’s beauty together.
Arizona-Friendly Tips
✅ Go early or later in the evening to avoid the hottest part of the day
✅ Bring plenty of water for everyone, at least one liter per person per hour
✅ Wear light clothing, sunscreen, and a hat
✅ Choose easy, family-friendly trails like the Discovery Trail and Brittlebush/Palo Verde Loop at Silly Mountain offering stroller-friendly options, the Jacob's Crosscut and Siphon Draw Trail at Lost Dutchman State Park, or the Riparian Preserve in Gilbert.
Make It Special
As you walk, share thoughts like:
-One thing that makes you feel strong
-Something in nature that reminds you of hope
Taking time to slow down and connect with nature supports mental health and strengthens family bonds. Every step forward is worth celebrating.
